Very cool to learn about the very first wind turbine in North America. This thing is huge!!So many other interesting things in the area as well so you could spend an afternoon exploring the vicinity.It’s right by the water which offers a lovely view. Worth the visit.

Wind turbine is a statement structure of Toronto CNE. The turbine looking impressive and it's visible from far It is 91 meters tall that is equal of 30 storeys tower, rotor is 52 meters in diameter.

This monumental structure that sits by the shore of the lake is akin to a compass or waypoint. It is not only a generator, it is a beacon that assists in guiding me home when I am disoriented and otherwise lost. Would be 5 stars however, it is not practical in terms of producing sufficient energy supplies for anyone.

North America's first urban wind turbine. Right on the beautiful banks of Lake Ontario. There are a number of very informative plaques all around the base of the turbine. Take a few minutes and learn about this eco friendly power project.

Erected in 2002, the Wind Turbine was a joint project between Windshare Cooperative and Toronto Hydro Energy Services Inc.. The $1.4 million dollar Wind Turbine stands 95 meters above the eastern shore of the grounds and produces 1,800-megawatt hours of energy per year, enough electricity to power 250 homes. It is the first urban wind turbine in North America providing green electricity sources that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.
